Controversy Surrounds New Purple Trim on Tour de France White Jersey
The Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes recently unveiled updated leaders' jerseys, drawing attention to a new purple trim on the iconic white jersey for the best young rider, set to debut in 2027.
This change, attributed to the new sponsor Sanofi, has ignited discussions among cycling enthusiasts, with some expressing strong disapproval. The introduction of ultraviolet purple has been compared to previous controversies, such as the 2023 change of the vert points jersey from lime to forest green.
In addition to the white jersey, all four classification jerseys will be refreshed next season, with Castelli returning as the clothing supplier after over 30 years. Despite the backlash regarding the white jersey, the other jerseys have not attracted similar criticism.
