Corey Day Secures Victory at NASCAR O'Reilly Series Race in Charlotte
Corey Day, a 20-year-old rookie, won the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, marking his fourth victory of the season. He took the lead with 11 laps remaining after a restart, successfully defending against Jesse Love in the final laps.
Day's path to victory included overcoming a pit road penalty earlier in the race. He initially struggled with the restart but gained momentum exiting turn 2, allowing him to pass both Love and Justin Allgaier for the lead. Allgaier had led until 18 laps to go when he hit the wall, enabling Love to take the top position before Day reclaimed the lead.
With this win, Day has significantly improved his standing in the championship, now sitting third, just seven points behind leader Sheldon Creed. Love is in second place, two points behind Creed, while Allgaier ranks fourth, 15 points off the lead. Other notable finishers included Brandon Jones and Austin Hill, who rounded out the top five.
