Cormier Challenges Nurmagomedov to Join UFC for Legacy
Daniel Cormier has called on Usman Nurmagomedov to join the UFC and demonstrate his skills against the promotion's top lightweights. This challenge occurred after UFC 330 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, where Nurmagomedov expressed doubts about the quality of UFC fighters.
During their encounter, Nurmagomedov criticized top-ranked lightweights, referring to them as 'bums,' which prompted Cormier to respond with a challenge. Nurmagomedov, who recently concluded his contract with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) after defeating Archie Colgan, is now a free agent, although PFL has a limited negotiation period before UFC can make an offer.
Cormier emphasized to Nurmagomedov that he should prioritize legacy over financial gain, urging him to prove his worth in the UFC. If Nurmagomedov decides to sign with the UFC, he could follow in the footsteps of fellow Dagestanis Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev in their pursuit of lightweight titles.
