Court Lifts Anonymity of Doctor Linked to Lucy Letby Case

Dr. Mark Deakin, who was described as Lucy Letby's boyfriend during her trial, can now be publicly identified following the lifting of a court order that protected his anonymity.

Deakin, who passed away in July at the age of 53, worked with Letby at the Countess of Chester Hospital during the time she was convicted of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder six others between 2015 and 2016. After leaving the Countess of Chester, he served as a consultant at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

Reports indicate that Deakin died shortly after being dismissed for breaching patient confidentiality in messages exchanged with Letby. An inquest into his death is set to be conducted. During the inquiry into Letby's actions, it was revealed that Deakin had exchanged over 1,000 messages with her and had assisted her in securing a placement at Alder Hey after she was suspected of wrongdoing.
