Coventry Defeats Sunderland 3-1, Keeping Them at the Bottom of the Premier League
Sunderland's difficult season in the Premier League persisted with a 3-1 defeat against Coventry City, preventing them from escaping the bottom of the table.
Coventry, starting the match just one point above Sunderland, took control early. Tatsuhiro Sakamoto scored the first goal after capitalizing on a defensive error, followed by Taiwo Awoniyi's deflected shot that doubled their lead. A third goal from Jack Rudoni, also deflected, left Sunderland struggling. Although Enzo Le Fee scored a penalty for Sunderland, it was merely a consolation as they faced a red card for Omar Alderete in stoppage time.
With this victory, Coventry moved out of the relegation zone, while Sunderland remained last with only five points from nine matches, having not won since August.
