Cowboys Adjust Field Goal Protection After Consecutive Blocks
The Dallas Cowboys are implementing changes to their field goal protection unit following two consecutive games where their kicks were blocked. This decision comes after their Week 3 game against the Ravens and Week 4 against the Texans, where both teams exploited the same vulnerability in the Cowboys' protection scheme.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that the injury of offensive lineman Drew Shelton, who has been part of the protection unit, necessitated adjustments. However, he emphasized that changes were needed regardless of injuries due to the team's poor performance in this area.
Currently, the Cowboys are the only NFL team this season to have multiple field goals blocked, a situation that Schottenheimer and his staff are focused on rectifying as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Buccaneers.
