Cowboys Coach Addresses George Pickens' Role in Run Game

George Pickens, a receiver for the Cowboys, is currently playing under the franchise tag after a successful contract year, but he has not secured a fair market deal. His performance in the 2026 season shows comparable targets and catches to the previous year, but his yards per game have decreased significantly.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer recently commented on Pickens' effort, particularly when he is not receiving the ball. He highlighted that Pickens needs to recognize his impact on the running game, including blocking responsibilities that are crucial for the team's success. Schottenheimer's remarks suggest that there have been attempts to address these issues privately.

As the Cowboys aim to effectively utilize both Pickens and fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb, it is essential to involve them consistently in the game plan to maintain their motivation and performance.
