Cris Cyborg Retains PFL Featherweight Title and Calls Out Kayla Harrison and Claressa Shields
Cris Cyborg defended her PFL featherweight title against Ketlen Vieira at PFL Tampa, securing a unanimous decision victory on Saturday night. The match took place at Benchmark International Arena in Florida, where Cyborg faced significant challenges from Vieira, who was ineligible to win the title due to missing weight.
Throughout the five-round bout, Vieira managed to trouble Cyborg, notably rocking her in the second round and executing a judo throw in the fourth that left Cyborg bloodied. However, Cyborg responded with effective ground control and powerful strikes, achieving takedowns in the third and fifth rounds. The judges scored the fight 49-46, 48-47, and 49-46 in favor of Cyborg.
Following her victory, Cyborg labeled Vieira as a significant challenge and expressed her readiness to face anyone. She specifically called out UFC bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison, who was present at the event, and also challenged boxing champion Claressa Shields to a match at 160 pounds. With this win, Cyborg's record improves to 30-2, marking her tenth consecutive victory as she enters free agency after competing in various promotions.
