Cris Cyborg's Title Fight Adjusted After Ketlen Vieira Misses Weight
Cris Cyborg's upcoming fight in Tampa, Florida, was nearly canceled when her opponent, Ketlen Vieira, weighed in at 152 pounds, exceeding the 145-pound limit by seven pounds. This bout was originally set for the PFL's featherweight world title.
Despite the weight miss, the fight will continue as a catchweight match, meaning Cyborg's title will not be on the line. Cyborg, who successfully made weight, expressed relief that the fight would still take place after initially fearing it might be scrapped.
Vieira cited a health issue that hindered her ability to cut weight, resulting in severe pain and discomfort. She will forfeit part of her purse due to the weight miss. Cyborg, a veteran of the sport, has indicated that this fight could mark the end of her illustrious career.
