Cristian Romero Bids Farewell to Tottenham Ahead of Atletico Madrid Transfer
Cristian Romero has officially said goodbye to Tottenham as he nears a transfer to Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish club reportedly agreeing to a £34.2 million deal for the defender.
The Argentina international reflected on his five-year tenure in North London, acknowledging his imperfections but emphasizing his commitment to the club. Romero has not played since suffering a knee injury in April, which sidelined him for the final six matches of the Premier League season.
Despite facing criticism for his initial plans to return to Argentina during a crucial period for Tottenham, Romero remained in England to support his team. He played a key role in helping Spurs secure their Premier League status with a victory over Everton. During his time at Tottenham, he made 156 appearances and was part of the squad that ended a 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League in 2025.
