Cristiano Ronaldo Calls for Lifetime Bans After Diogo Jota Chanting Incident

Cristiano Ronaldo has called for lifetime bans for fans who chanted the name of the late Diogo Jota at his Portugal teammate Ruben Neves during a recent Saudi Pro League match. The incident occurred during Al Hilal's 6-0 victory over Al Taawoun, where a section of fans repeatedly shouted Jota's name at Neves.

Jota, who tragically died in a car accident last July, was a close friend of Neves, who now honors him by wearing the No 21 shirt for Portugal. Following the match, Neves expressed his disapproval of the fans' behavior, hoping they would reflect on their actions.

Ronaldo, who plays for Al Nassr, condemned the chants on social media, stating that such behavior should not be tolerated in football. Both Al Hilal and Al Taawoun, along with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, have condemned the actions, emphasizing that they do not align with the values of Saudi football. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
