Cristiano Ronaldo Faces Suspension and Fine After Leaving Portugal National Team
Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of the Portugal national team, has been suspended for 30 days and fined £215 after leaving the team's camp due to a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. This incident occurred on the eve of a match, prompting disciplinary action from the Portuguese Football Association (FA).
The disciplinary council did not clarify the start date of Ronaldo's suspension, but it is understood to take effect from September 30, when he departed the camp in Denmark. Despite the suspension, Ronaldo remains eligible to participate in upcoming Nations League matches against Denmark and Wales next month.
Ronaldo expressed that he felt his trust was breached by Jesus, who he claimed failed to honor promises regarding his role in the team. The coach, however, denied any prior agreements. Ronaldo, who is among the highest-paid footballers globally, indicated he wished to accept the punishment without leniency.
