Crystal Palace Completes Dwight McNeil Transfer Amid Previous Controversy
Crystal Palace has finalized the transfer of midfielder Dwight McNeil from Everton, with the player signing a four-year contract. The deal, which was completed on Tuesday, involved a swap with Brennan Johnson moving to Everton.
McNeil, who previously joined Everton from Burnley for £20 million in July 2022, had nearly transferred to Crystal Palace in January. That deal fell through due to paperwork issues despite McNeil passing a medical examination. Following the failed transfer, McNeil's partner, Megan Sharpley, expressed her disappointment on social media, criticizing the impact of such situations on players' mental health.
In an effort to address the previous controversy, Parish reached out to Sharpley before the recent transfer was completed. McNeil is looking forward to contributing to Crystal Palace's recent successes, which include winning the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League.
