Cubs Aim for Series Sweep Against Marlins

The Chicago Cubs are looking to solidify their lead in the National League wild-card race on Sunday as they aim for a three-game sweep against the Miami Marlins.

Currently holding an 81-62 record, the Cubs are led by center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who is a frontrunner for the National League Most Valuable Player Award. Armstrong has achieved career highs with 39 home runs, 105 runs, and 94 RBIs, among other statistics. He is on the verge of becoming the first Cub to hit 40 home runs in a season since 2005.

While the Cubs excel in various offensive categories, their pitching staff ranks 17th in the majors for ERA. They recently bolstered their pitching with trades for Clay Holmes and David Peterson. The Marlins, currently four games out of a wild-card spot, will start Tyler Phillips, who has a better ERA at home than on the road. Despite injuries to key players, Miami's Griffin Conine and Kyle Stowers have recently contributed positively to the team's performance.
