Despite these struggles, he has shown improvement in short relief, throwing four hitless innings and achieving a 41.7% strikeout rate. His fastball, which reaches 96-98 mph, combined with his other pitches, offers significant swing-and-miss potential.

As the Cubs enter September with a record of 77-60, they are looking to strengthen their pitching staff, which has been affected by injuries and inconsistency. Wiggins' ability to perform in low-leverage situations could provide the team with the additional support needed during the critical stretch of the season.
