Cubs Provide Injury Updates on Matt Shaw and Ben Brown

The Chicago Cubs announced positive injury updates on players Matt Shaw and Ben Brown during their series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

Shaw, who has been out since late June due to a left hand sprain, has increased his baseball activities, including hitting off a high-velocity machine. He may begin a Minor League rehab assignment soon and is expected to return this month or next. Before his injury, Shaw had a batting average of .246 with 32 hits, four home runs, and 20 RBIs in 56 games.

Meanwhile, Brown has progressed in his throwing program after a stress reaction in his neck led to his placement on the injured list. He has begun bullpen sessions and is anticipated to rejoin the pitching staff next month. Brown had a 4-2 record with a 1.85 ERA in 20 appearances prior to his injury. The Cubs are currently in second place in the NL Central and are hopeful that both players can contribute as the season approaches its final stretch.
