Cubs Shortstop Dansby Swanson Out for Approximately a Month Due to Injury
Dansby Swanson, the shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, will be sidelined for roughly a month due to a left oblique strain. The team placed him on the 10-day injured list on Monday after he sustained the injury during a game against St. Louis.
In Swanson's absence, second baseman Nico Hoerner shifted to shortstop for the Cubs' game against the White Sox at Wrigley Field. This season, Swanson has recorded a batting average of .216, with 18 home runs and 66 RBIs over 119 games.
Additionally, the Cubs placed right-hander Edward Cabrera on the 15-day injured list due to a blister on his right middle finger. Cabrera had recently returned from a hamstring injury but only pitched 3 2/3 innings in his latest outing. The team also made roster adjustments by recalling outfielder Kevin Alcantara and right-hander Javier Assad from Triple-A Iowa, and they purchased the contract of infielder Owen Miller.
