Curling 2026-27 Season Preview: A Transformative Year Ahead
The 2026-27 curling season is set to introduce numerous changes as the sport transitions from the Olympic quadrennial that concluded last season. The Co-op Invitational, the first Grand Slam event of the season, will kick off shortly, highlighting the theme of transformation with new teams and a revised schedule.
Last season was notable for the double-touch controversy during the Olympics and the launch of the Rock League, the first professional curling league. As the new season begins, most curlers have already been active since August in satellite events that serve as qualifiers for the Grand Slam. Six of the 14 scheduled satellite events have been completed, with invitations to Grand Slam events awarded to the winners.
This year also marks a shift in broadcasting, with new commentary teams taking over after the retirement of veteran broadcaster Rob Faulds. Sportsnet and CBC will provide extensive coverage of the Grand Slam events, starting with the Co-op Invitational in Victoria, B.C., from October 13-18, 2026. The season will feature a packed schedule, including multiple major events leading up to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Brier.
