Curt Cignetti Comments on Cancelled Indiana-Notre Dame Series

Indiana Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti recently commented on the cancellation of a scheduled home-and-home football series with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, which was set for 2030-31. Cignetti expressed disappointment but also took the opportunity to suggest that Notre Dame, being an independent team, should play at Indiana twice while the Hoosiers visit once.

Indiana is coming off its first National Championship win in program history, achieving a remarkable 27-2 record over Cignetti's two seasons. The Hoosiers made the College Football Playoff in both years, while Notre Dame narrowly missed the playoffs last season with a 10-2 record. The two teams last faced each other in the 2024 College Football Playoff, where Indiana lost to Notre Dame.

Historically, Indiana has struggled against Notre Dame, holding a 5-24-1 record in their all-time series, with their last victory over the Fighting Irish occurring in 1950. Indiana's next season will begin at home against North Texas on September 5, 2026.
