Dak Prescott Expresses Confidence in George Pickens Ahead of NFL Season
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has expressed strong confidence in wide receiver George Pickens as the team gears up for the 2026 NFL season. This optimism follows Pickens' signing of the franchise tag worth approximately $27.3 million earlier this spring, which alleviated concerns about his participation this season.
Prescott noted that Pickens has consistently performed well during summer training, stating that he has met expectations since joining the team. The quarterback emphasized Pickens' desire to play and contribute alongside his teammates. Prescott, along with other players, has advocated for a contract extension for Pickens after the regular season concludes in January 2027, although there are suggestions that the Cowboys could retain his rights through the franchise tag for another year if he excels.
In his first season with the Cowboys, Pickens achieved 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. Prescott highlighted the importance of Pickens' role in the offense and the potential for further development in his game, particularly in collaboration with fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb. If Pickens continues to progress and maintain a positive attitude, the Cowboys could position themselves as serious contenders for the championship by the holiday season.
