Dale Earnhardt's Taz Car Returns to Racing 25 Years Later

The Taz car, famously driven by Dale Earnhardt, made a comeback at the zMAX CARS Tour, marking 25 years since its debut in the Daytona 500.

During the recent event at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina, Doug Barnes Jr. showcased the Taz paint scheme, which was a nod to Earnhardt's iconic day-glo red design. Although Barnes finished fifth in the race, he expressed his long-standing admiration for the Taz car and his excitement to honor Earnhardt's legacy.

The race, known as the Throwback Classic, featured various tributes to NASCAR legends, with drivers encouraged to use throwback paint schemes. Barnes, who had previously communicated with Dale Earnhardt Jr. about his car design, received positive feedback from him. Unlike the original Taz car, which was dismantled for collectibles, Barnes plans to preserve a piece of his car as a keepsake.
