Dan Quinn Discusses Jayden Daniels' Mistake in Loss to 49ers
Following the Washington Commanders' 23-17 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers, head coach Dan Quinn spoke about a pivotal moment involving quarterback Jayden Daniels. During the second quarter, Daniels threw a pass away on a 4th-and-2 situation, resulting in a turnover on downs.
Quinn emphasized that even when a penalty is called, players should still attempt to make a play, as the outcome of the penalty can be uncertain. Daniels explained that he was unsure of the penalty's nature when he spotted the flag. This incident followed previous criticism regarding time management during a tie against the New York Giants.
Despite the loss, Daniels completed 29 of 40 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns, contributing to a comeback effort after the team trailed 23-3. Quinn acknowledged both the strengths and weaknesses in Daniels' performance. As of now, Quinn is expected to continue as head coach for the upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
