Dana Brown Returns to Braves as Senior Scouting Advisor
The Atlanta Braves have appointed Dana Brown as a senior advisor in their amateur scouting department, marking his return to the organization. Brown previously held the position of VP of scouting for the Braves from 2019 to 2022 before becoming the general manager of the Houston Astros.
Brown's professional relationship with Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos dates back to their time in Montreal, where Brown was the director of amateur scouting and Anthopoulos served as his assistant. Their collaboration continued through various roles, including Brown's tenure with the Expos/Nationals and later in Toronto.
Brown's departure from the Astros came after a challenging period, where the team did not win a playoff game following their last ALCS appearance. His return to the Braves is seen as a reunion with familiar colleagues, and he brings extensive scouting experience to his new role.
