Dana White Clarifies Comments on Farid Basharat's UFC Release
Dana White has offered additional context regarding his reaction to Farid Basharat's release from the UFC. Basharat, who had an undefeated record of 7-0 in the promotion, faced speculation after White suggested there was a reason for not renewing his contract without elaborating.
During a press conference in Abu Dhabi, White explained that his previous comments were not specifically aimed at Basharat. He emphasized that he was discussing the general reasons behind contract non-renewals and not singling out any individual fighter.
Basharat's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, defended him, stating that Basharat never turned down fights and was always willing to compete. It appears that a lack of finishes in Basharat's fights may have influenced the UFC's decision, as most of his victories were by decision. His brother, Javid Basharat, faced a similar fate earlier this year for the same reasons.
