Dana White Comments on Usman Nurmagomedov's Cage Violation at UFC Shanghai
Usman Nurmagomedov reacted emotionally at UFC Shanghai last week after his brother, Umar Nurmagomedov, suffered a knockout loss to Song Yadong. In his distress, Usman jumped over the cage, violating MMA rules that prevent cornermen from entering the cage without official permission.
UFC CEO Dana White addressed the incident at a press conference, stating that Usman crossed a line with his actions. Under the Unified Rules of MMA, a corner is not allowed to attend to their fighter until the cage door is opened by a commission official. White emphasized the importance of maintaining order during such events.
While it remains uncertain if the UFC will impose any penalties on Usman, he is not subject to scrutiny from state athletic commissions due to the event's location in Shanghai. Former UFC champion Chris Weidman criticized Usman's behavior, suggesting he should face consequences for his actions, which have been a recurring issue for the fighter.
