Dana White Rejects Sean Strickland's Boxing Aspirations
Dana White has reiterated his opposition to UFC fighters switching to boxing, specifically in response to Sean Strickland's interest in facing Jai Opetaia. Strickland, currently in a contractual dispute with the UFC, has expressed a desire to pursue boxing instead.
During a recent event, White indicated that he has different plans for Opetaia, suggesting that the cruiserweight champion should move up to heavyweight to fight Deontay Wilder in December. White dismissed the idea of Strickland boxing Opetaia, stating that crossovers from MMA to boxing rarely succeed.
White's comments came during a conversation at the Power Slap event, where he also mentioned that Opetaia might fight on the undercard of the anticipated Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua match, with Wilder as a potential opponent.
