Dansby Swanson Exits Cubs Game Against Cardinals Due to Injury
Dansby Swanson departed the Chicago Cubs' game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday after sustaining an injury during the third inning. The incident occurred when he swung and missed at a pitch from Cardinals pitcher Hunter Dobbins.
Following the swing, Swanson appeared to twist awkwardly and subsequently consulted with manager Craig Counsell and the training staff before leaving the field. The Cubs reported that he experienced discomfort in his left side.
James Triantos took over for Swanson in the at-bat and successfully drew a walk. Triantos continued in the game at second base, while Nico Hoerner shifted from second to shortstop. Swanson, a two-time Gold Glove winner, has played 117 of the Cubs' 125 games this season, entering the game with a batting average of .216, 18 home runs, and 66 RBIs.
