Daron Payne Out for Season with Foot Injury
Daron Payne, a defensive tackle for the Washington Commanders, has suffered a season-ending Jones fracture in his left foot during practice on Friday, according to a report by ESPN.
Initially listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Payne was later confirmed to be out for the remainder of the season. He is expected to be placed on injured reserve and is in the final year of his four-year, $90 million contract.
This season, the 29-year-old player has made six starts, recording 14 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. A Pro Bowl selection in 2022, Payne has accumulated 446 tackles, 38 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries over his career, which spans 136 games since being drafted 13th overall by Washington in 2018.
