Darron Lee's Murder Trial Scheduled for September 2027
Darron Lee, a former NFL linebacker and first-round draft pick of the Jets in 2016, is facing first-degree murder charges in Tennessee for the death of his girlfriend, Gabriella Perpetuo. The trial is scheduled to commence on September 20, 2027.
Lee has not entered a formal plea regarding the charges, which is treated as a not-guilty plea under Tennessee law. In a related matter, Perpetuo's family has initiated a civil lawsuit linked to her death, which includes claims against OpenAI, alleging that Lee sought assistance from ChatGPT on how to handle an unresponsive individual.
During his five-year NFL career, Lee played for the Jets, Chiefs, and Bills, and was part of the Kansas City team that won Super Bowl LIV. He participated in 58 regular-season games, starting in 38 of them.
