Dave Aranda Parts Ways with Baylor Bears After Seven Seasons
Dave Aranda has been let go from his position as head football coach at Baylor University after a challenging seventh season. His dismissal followed a recent 25-24 loss to Kansas, marking the Bears' second consecutive defeat and bringing their season record to 4-3.
During his tenure, Aranda compiled a 40-40 record, with his most successful season occurring in 2021 when he led the team to a 12-2 finish and a Big 12 championship. In a statement, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the program and acknowledged the impact of changes in college football, such as the introduction of NIL and the transfer portal, on his coaching experience.
Aranda's coaching journey began at Baylor after serving as the associate head coach and defensive coordinator at LSU. He noted that while some changes in the game were anticipated, others required adaptation, and he recognized that the team's performance did not meet expectations.
