Dave Dickenson to Continue as Head Coach and GM of Calgary Stampeders
Dave Dickenson will remain as the head coach and general manager of the Calgary Stampeders for the next season, as confirmed by a team official. This decision comes after the Stampeders missed the playoffs for the second time in three years.
Since taking over as head coach in 2016 and adding the general manager role in 2023, Dickenson has led the team to seven consecutive playoff appearances initially, including three Grey Cup finals, winning one in 2018. However, the team has struggled recently, finishing the season with a 9-9 record and allowing the second-most points in the league.
During a media session following the team's elimination from playoff contention, Dickenson expressed his commitment to improving the team's performance. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. emphasized the need for players to take responsibility for the team's disappointing results, highlighting the limitations of the coaching staff's influence.
