David Malukas Praises New Markham IndyCar Circuit After Practice
David Malukas, a driver for Team Penske, achieved the sixth fastest time during the opening practice session for the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. This session took place on a busy Saturday after Friday's activities were canceled, and Malukas recorded a lap time of 1m15.3298s on the new 2.19-mile street circuit.
Malukas expressed his admiration for the track's freshly paved surface, describing it as exceptionally smooth and well-designed, with a mix of challenging corners. He noted that while the track initially presented grip challenges, conditions improved significantly as the session progressed.
Despite his strong performance, Malukas faced difficulties with the softer alternate tires, which affected his braking. He emphasized the importance of adjusting to the track's characteristics and anticipated that lap times would improve significantly as qualifying approached.
