David Walker Emerges as a Standout Edge Defender for Buccaneers
David Walker, a second-year edge defender for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has made a significant impact in the first six weeks of the 2026 NFL season after missing his rookie year due to injury. His performance has drawn attention as he leads all qualifying edge defenders in both pass-rush win rate and sack rate.
Walker, who previously excelled at Central Arkansas, recorded a remarkable 26.0% pass-rush win rate and a 7.0% sack rate, ranking first among 108 edge defenders with at least 50 pass-rushing snaps. His PFF pass-rush grade of 84.1 places him sixth overall. Despite being utilized in a rotational role, he has demonstrated his capability to perform at a high level.
In addition to his pass-rushing prowess, Walker has also shown effectiveness against the run, achieving a 16.0% run-stop percentage on limited snaps. While it is early in the season to draw definitive conclusions about his future, his current performance suggests he could become a key player for the Buccaneers and potentially one of the top draft steals in recent years.
