DeForest Buckner Returns to 49ers in Trade with Colts
The San Francisco 49ers have reacquired defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Indianapolis Colts in a trade, as confirmed by a source. The deal involves the 49ers sending a 2027 fourth-round pick to Indianapolis, pending Buckner's successful physical examination.
This trade marks the second significant move for the Colts on the same day, as they also traded All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks. Buckner, who was originally drafted by the 49ers in 2016, played a crucial role in the team's defense and was part of their Super Bowl run in the 2019 season.
At 32 years old, Buckner continues to perform well, having recorded 20 quarterback pressures and four sacks this season. His return is expected to bolster the 49ers' defensive line, which has been impacted by injuries. Meanwhile, the Colts are struggling with a 2-5 record and have recently made changes in their management, indicating a shift in their strategy.
