Deshaun Watson Named Starting Quarterback for Cleveland Browns
Deshaun Watson has been named the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, winning the competition against Shedeur Sanders ahead of the regular-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 13.
Retired All-Pro guard Joel Bitonio, who has played alongside both quarterbacks, noted Watson's superior skills in crucial areas such as pocket awareness and timing. He acknowledged Sanders' improvement during the preseason but highlighted his struggles with fundamental operational aspects of the quarterback role.
Head coach Todd Monken confirmed that Watson provides the best opportunity for the team to score effectively. NFL insider Albert Breer also reported that many within the league view Watson as the optimal choice for the Browns at this time.
