Deshaun Watson Shines in Practice, Challenges Shedeur Sanders for QB Spot

During a recent practice session, Deshaun Watson showcased his skills, responding to competition from Shedeur Sanders for the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback role. The practice took place as both players vie for the position ahead of the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears on August 15.

Watson reportedly had his best day of training camp, completing 17 of 20 passes for seven touchdowns without any interceptions. In contrast, Sanders completed 11 of 16 passes, achieving two touchdowns but also throwing one interception. Watson's performance included effective execution of cadence, which was emphasized by head coach Todd Monken, particularly in avoiding pre-snap penalties.

Monken has indicated that he will not announce a starting quarterback until after the joint practice against the Bills on August 20. Both Watson and Sanders are expected to participate in the Browns' home preseason game against the Bills on August 22.
