Detroit Lions Criticized for Alim McNeill's Contract
The Detroit Lions are under fire for what some analysts consider an excessive contract for defensive tackle Alim McNeill. General manager Brad Holmes, known for his cautious spending, has been criticized for this deal, which spans four years and is valued at $97 million, including $28 million guaranteed.
Garrett Podell from CBS Sports highlighted McNeill as the most overpaid player in the NFL, citing his inability to remain healthy as a significant concern. Since 2023, he has missed 14 games, and his performance during the 2025 season was subpar, with a defensive grade placing him 89th out of 127 interior defensive linemen.
With three years left on his contract, McNeill faces a pivotal season to prove his worth, as his talent is evident when he is fit to play.
