Detroit Tigers Promote Max Clark, Casey Mize's Start Delayed

The Detroit Tigers have promoted outfield prospect Max Clark from the minor leagues and postponed Casey Mize's scheduled start as they prepare for their final series before the trade deadline.

Max Clark, 21, was batting seventh and playing center field against the Athletics on Friday night. He had an impressive performance in Triple-A, hitting .276 with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs this season. Manager A.J. Hinch noted Clark's development and readiness for the major leagues.

This promotion means both of the Tigers' top picks from the 2023 draft are now in the majors, with Kevin McGonigle also performing well. Mize's next start has been pushed back to Tuesday, pending potential trade discussions. Mize has a 2.70 ERA this season but has been dealing with a groin injury. The Tigers also placed Matt Vierling on the injured list and made other roster adjustments, including recalling Enmanuel DeJesus.
