Diamondbacks Activate Blake Walston from 60-Day Injured List
The Arizona Diamondbacks have reinstated left-hander Blake Walston from the 60-day injured list, along with outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. from the 10-day IL, as the team's active roster expands from 26 to 28 players.
Walston, who made his MLB debut in 2024, has faced challenges since requiring Tommy John surgery in March 2025. He spent the entirety of the previous season on the injured list and most of this season as well. After nearly a month of rehab assignments, he is expected to join the bullpen, providing additional left-handed options.
To accommodate Walston on the 40-man roster, right-hander Ryan Thompson has been moved to the 60-day injured list due to a lower back strain. Thompson, who has struggled this season, will be ineligible to return until early October, potentially ending his season as he approaches free agency.
