Diamondbacks Activate Justin Martinez and Jordan Lawlar from Injured List
The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced the activation of closer Justin Martinez and outfielder Jordan Lawlar from the injured list. This decision was reported by John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Arizona Sports.
Martinez, who has been recovering from Tommy John surgery since June of the previous year, will require a 40-man roster spot due to his previous placement on the 60-day injured list. In his last full season, he recorded a 2.48 ERA and a 29.5% strikeout rate over 72 2/3 innings. Lawlar, who had a promising start to the season before suffering multiple injuries, has shown strong performance in limited appearances, hitting .316 with a .409 on-base percentage.
The Diamondbacks' bullpen has struggled, currently ranking 16th in the majors with a 4.11 ERA. Martinez's return is expected to provide a significant boost, especially as the team navigates the absence of Paul Sewald, who was recently designated for assignment.
