Diamondbacks Dismiss Pitching Coach Brian Kaplan
The Arizona Diamondbacks will part ways with pitching coach Brian Kaplan after his two-year contract has expired. This decision marks a significant change in the coaching staff under manager Torey Lovullo.
Kaplan, who is 44 years old, previously served as an assistant pitching coach with the Philadelphia Phillies for three years before joining the Diamondbacks in the 2024-25 offseason. During his tenure, the team's pitching performance has been subpar, ranking 22nd in ERA and struggling with strikeout rates.
While some pitchers like Eduardo Rodriguez and Brandon Pfaadt performed well, many others, including Corbin Burnes and top relievers A.J. Puk and Justin Martinez, faced injuries. The Diamondbacks recently extended Lovullo's contract, but it remains unclear if additional coaching changes will follow Kaplan's departure.
