Diamondbacks Manager Comments on Ketel Marte's Casino Visit
Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo spoke about second baseman Ketel Marte's recent visit to a casino while the team played against the Cincinnati Reds. Marte was photographed at Talking Stick Resort during Friday's game, prompting questions about his decision.
Lovullo clarified that Marte had not violated any team rules and emphasized that he is an adult capable of making his own choices. However, he noted that the situation did not present a favorable image. Marte had previously been placed on the restricted list after missing a game against the Boston Red Sox and was later moved to the injured list due to left knee inflammation.
Currently, Marte is rehabilitating at the Diamondbacks' spring training facility in Scottsdale, which is near the casino. He is expected to return from the injured list on August 30, coinciding with a day off for the team. Lovullo mentioned that Marte is undergoing supervised workouts and will increase his rehabilitation activities in the coming days.
