Diamondbacks Manager Expresses Frustration Over Marte's Disappearance
The Arizona Diamondbacks are currently engaged in a competitive playoff race, with 34 games remaining in the season. However, the situation has been complicated by the unexpected absence of Ketel Marte, a key player, during a recent road trip in Boston.
Manager Torey Lovullo expressed significant frustration over Marte's disappearance, stating that he felt betrayed by the situation. Following a meeting with Marte, general manager Mike Hazen, and Marte's agent, the player was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left knee inflammation. Marte, who has a batting average of .249 with 21 home runs this season, was scheduled to play but did not show up.
Lovullo acknowledged that both he and Marte could have handled the situation better. Despite the challenges, Marte remains a valuable member of the team, being the longest-tenured player and one of the franchise's top hitters. His absence has left teammates seeking clarity, with some expressing disappointment but also concern for his well-being.
