Diamondbacks Sign Zack Littell After Nationals Release
The Arizona Diamondbacks have finalized a deal with right-handed pitcher Zack Littell, as reported by Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. This signing occurred shortly after Littell was released from his one-year, $7 million contract with the Washington Nationals.
Littell's previous contract included a $3 million base salary and a $4 million buyout for a mutual option in 2027. The Nationals will cover most of Littell's remaining salary, with the Diamondbacks responsible only for the prorated MLB minimum salary. This season, Littell has recorded a 4.97 ERA over 112 1/3 innings, with a 7.3% walk rate and a 14.6% strikeout rate, serving in both starting and relief roles.
Despite a career ERA of 3.88 prior to this season, Littell's performance has been affected by a few poor outings in April. The Diamondbacks are looking to bolster their rotation as they await the return of injured starters, with Littell expected to support the pitching staff alongside Eduardo Rodriguez, Merrill Kelly, and Michael Soroka, who is set to return from the injured list.
