Dillon Gabriel Gains Ground in Cleveland Quarterback Competition
In the ongoing quarterback competition for the Cleveland team, Dillon Gabriel is emerging as a serious contender alongside Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson. Gabriel, who was drafted two rounds before Sanders in 2025, has been performing well enough to earn additional opportunities.
Coach Todd Monken noted that while all players are competing, the amount of practice reps is not guaranteed. He emphasized that Gabriel has maximized his chances, leading to an increase in his practice reps. Monken stated that if a player performs well, they should expect more opportunities to play.
Gabriel previously started six games in 2025, stepping in for Joe Flacco, but ended with a 1-5 record before being replaced by Sanders. Now, Gabriel's improved performance may prompt the Browns to reconsider his position on the depth chart.
