Dion Prestia, a midfielder for Richmond, has declared his retirement from the AFL. The announcement was made by the club on Thursday, and his last match will take place this Saturday against St Kilda at the MCG.
Prestia, 33, has faced ongoing injury issues in recent seasons but has made a significant impact during his time with Richmond, playing 158 games since joining from Gold Coast in 2017. In total, he has participated in 258 matches and scored 78 goals since being drafted in 2010.
He was instrumental in Richmond's success, contributing to their premiership victories from 2017 to 2020 and earning the club's best-and-fairest award in 2019. Prestia expressed gratitude to the fans and reflected on his journey, highlighting the fulfillment of his childhood dreams.
