Dion Prestia Joins Hawthorn as Development Coach

Dion Prestia, a triple-premiership player with Richmond, has taken on the role of development coach at Hawthorn following the non-renewal of his contract with the Tigers.

After deciding to retire, Prestia faced speculation about his future playing career, with suggestions he might join GWS in 2027 due to his connection with coach Adam Kingsley. During his time at Richmond, he was recognized for his leadership and influence on younger players, even while rehabilitating from injuries.

Hawthorn's football boss, Rob McCartney, welcomed Prestia, highlighting his respected playing career and the qualities he brings to the coaching environment. Prestia expressed a desire to advance in coaching while also indicating he would have preferred to continue playing if given the opportunity.
