DJ Uiagalelei Outperforms Trey Lance in Chargers' Preseason Finale
In the Los Angeles Chargers' final preseason game, DJ Uiagalelei demonstrated a stronger performance compared to Trey Lance, who has not yet been named the backup quarterback behind Justin Herbert.
Lance managed to lead the offense for two possessions but failed to complete any passes, resulting in one three-and-out and a sack on fourth-and-1. In contrast, Uiagalelei played longer and completed 11 of 18 passes for 141 yards, showing greater competence in managing the Chargers' offense.
After the game, head coach Jim Harbaugh acknowledged Uiagalelei's performance, stating he did some good things. The competition between Lance and Uiagalelei has been close, but both quarterbacks have faced challenges. Lance was a highly touted draft pick in 2021, while Uiagalelei entered the league as an undrafted rookie and spent last season on the practice squad.
