Dodgers Acquire Tarik Skubal from Tigers in Major Trade
The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a significant move by acquiring pitcher Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers, reinforcing their status as a leading team for the 2026 season.
In the trade, the Dodgers sent outfielder Zyhir Hope, along with pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith, to Detroit. Skubal, a two-time AL Cy Young Award winner, had an impressive season with a 2.79 ERA and 116 strikeouts over 96.2 innings.
Hope, ranked as the Dodgers' fifth-best prospect, is known for his power and speed, while Ryan, the seventh-best prospect, has a strong fastball and is recovering from Tommy John surgery. Smith, ranked 17th, is also coming back from surgery but has shown promise with his pitching arsenal. This acquisition positions the Dodgers favorably as they pursue a third consecutive championship.
