Dodgers Aim to Revive Offense Against Cardinals After Tough Road Trip

The Los Angeles Dodgers are back at home to begin a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals following a disappointing road trip that saw them lose four of six games.

During their recent trip to Atlanta and Detroit, the Dodgers struggled, leaving them with a 6-10 record in road games since late July. Star player Shohei Ohtani has faced difficulties, batting just .148 on the trip and extending his RBI drought to ten games. Meanwhile, Freddie Freeman has not hit a home run since early July, although he has maintained a .318 batting average during that period.

The Dodgers are optimistic after a 6-1 victory over the Tigers, and veteran catcher Will Smith is expected to return from injury. On the mound for the Dodgers will be Eric Lauer, who has performed well since joining the team but has struggled historically against the Cardinals. St. Louis, currently five games out of the NL wild-card spot, is also dealing with injuries, including rookie JJ Wetherholt, who has been placed on the injured list.
